Camp Pathfinder: Your First Step to Independence
For many people, summer camp is the first step on the road to independence. Pathfinder Village is pleased to offer an enriching co-educational summer experience for individuals with Down syndrome and other developmental disabilities -- Camp Pathfinder!
Campers share the traditional camp experience -- exploring the outdoors, expressing themselves through music and movement, making new friends, learning new skills, and "speaking with their own voice" around the campfire circle. All our activities are designed to help the adult camper with developmental disabilities explore, learn, and grow.
Overnight campers will experience a comfortable, home-like setting under the direct supervision of Pathfinder’s caring residential staff. The camp offers a quality transition experience for those who are eager to “try their wings” as adult members of our supportive community.
Why Choose Camp Pathfinder?
Camp Pathfinder offers one-week sessions and two-week sessions. Both sessions are open to people with Down syndrome and other intellectual and developmental disabilities who are 18 years or older, and have a level of physical/emotional health that will allow them to participate in and benefit from camp.
Camp Pathfinder offers an engaging curriculum to include five core themes:
- Community and Adventure
- The Arts
- Sports and Wellness
- Self-Advocacy
- Independent Living
