Pathfinder Village to Offer Over 21 Classes this Spring!

EDMESTON, NY, March 20, 2017 … Pathfinder Village will offer another fun and engaging semester of OVER 21 Classes this spring, running from March through May. Regular classes will focus on physical fitness and the creative arts, and are open to the community.  Several courses require pre-registration, and there are modest instructor and materials fees associated with the classes. “Our Over 21 Classes have been very popular with community members, and we feature instructors who are knowledgeable and dedicated to sharing their talents with others,” said Paula Schaeffer, Director of Enrichment Programming.  “These classes present opportunities for everyone who would like to learn new skills, or work towards fitness goals, all with coaching and support from fellow class members.”

ZUMBA® 
Each Wednesday
7-8 p.m.

Zoe Curtis rocks the Pathfinder Gym through ZUMBA®, an energetic combination of Latin dance beats and fitness moves that offer a fun and creative way to exercise. Wear suitable workout clothes; classes are $5 per session.

March 23-May 25,
4:15–5:30 p.m.

New this semester, Licensed Instructor Michelle Schmitt will lead energizing cardio jam sessions at Pathfinder Gym, which integrate infectious drum rhythms, sticks and movement.  The first class is free; subsequent classes are $7.  No experience is necessary, but participants should wear comfortable clothes and bring a yoga mat.

SCRAPBOOKING

Please call (607) 965-8377, ext. 126, to indicate your interest in a new Scrapbooking class.  A modest fee will be charged for this introduction level series of classes.

HAPPY HOUR PAINTING Tues., April 4, 5-8 p.m. 
Sat., May 6, 1-4 p.m.

Bring your own beverage and snack, and leave with a unique painted landscape, featuring an old stone mill and stream.  Taught by Pathfinder's Art Specialist, the fee of $30 covers all art materials for one painting.  Pre-registration is required.

KRIPALU YOGA 
April 12 – May 24
Wednesdays, 6-7 p.m.

 

Certified Instructor Tracey Lippitt of Fly Creek, will lead these sessions of gentle stretching and breathing exercises at the Meeting House. Participants should wear loose clothing, bring a mat or large towel.  Fees are $10 per class.

BASKETRY
Thursdays 
April 13 & 20
6-8 p.m.

Noted basketmaker Martha Bremer will show you how to make a versatile market basket, a great project for beginners.  The class meets at the Pathfinder Village Art Room. A $50 fee covers both classes, including all materials. Pre-registration is required; a minimum of 8 students is needed.

Pathfinder Village was established in 1980 to provide people living with Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities an independent and fulfilling lifestyle. As it works to provide quality supports for older individuals living with ID, the Village also offers highly successful educational, vocational and outreach programs.
