Dash to the Splash Fun Fitness Program Offered at Pathfinder Village
EDMESTON, NEW YORK, March 9, 2017 … Do you need motivation to start a fitness regimen? Do you enjoy meeting friends with common interests and goals? If so, plan now to join Pathfinder Village’s DASH TO THE SPLASH training program, which begins on March 21. The DASH training program is free.
The program, which started last year, is an incremental eight-week training regimen that helps participants build strength, stamina, and learn helpful habits to prepare for Pathfinder Village’s Splash Path 5K and Fun Walk, an affordable family-fun color run-walk that begins and ends at Pathfinder Village. The fourth annual Splash Path is set for Saturday, May 20, 2017. Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, Mang Insurance, and NYCM Insurance are key sponsors for the 2017 Splash Path event.
“We are hopeful to build on the success of last year’s DASH program – nearly 30 people completed the entire eight weeks of training, and were able to successfully walk or run the Splash Path 5K,” said Splash Path Chair Monica Clark. “These fun sessions integrate stretching, walking and jogging, team building, and offer opportunities for companionship and to learn about healthy lifestyles. The DASH program is a great way to ease into a regular fitness schedule to improve one’s overall health.”
DASH TO THE SPLASH participants will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Athletes will be grouped into teams; each team will have a coach who will guide participants as they work toward training goals. New this year, there will be kids’ fitness activities organized by Pathfinder staff during each DASH session, suitable for young children’s interests and development levels, so that their parents may fully participate in the training sessions. A new one-mile training program will also be developed.
