##### *Recent SCAD graduate completes project

 highlighting sibling experiences*

**Edmeston, NY, October 7, 2019** ... In celebration of October as National Down Syndrome Awareness Month, Pathfinder Village will debut a new documentary, ***Pathfinders,*** a film by Katherine Blakeley Kerr, a recent graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design.

Ms. Kerr, who graduated *magnum cum laude* in 2019, completed the 12-min. film this past spring as part of her final coursework at SCAD, Savannah, Ga., a private, nonprofit college that prepares talented students for creative professions. Ms. Kerr is presently an intern at Florentine Films, Walpole, NH, where she is assisting on a new documentary project, ***Hemmingway***, by noted documentarian Ken Burns.

***Pathfinders*** explores the filmmaker's relationship with her brother, Zack, who has Down syndrome and now resides at Pathfinder Village, a renown residential community for people with developmental disabilities that was founded in 1980. The film also shares insights into how Village supports and services have provided a foundation for Zack, as he has matured and grown as an integral member of the greater community.

Pathfinder Village is a community for people with Down Syndrome in upstate New York, that gives their residents extended learning and independent living opportunities they wouldn't have otherwise. This documentary captures the uniqueness of Pathfinder, and the life-changing effects it has had on its residents, their families, and staff members.
