Our mission at Pathfinder Village has always been to encourage independence and community involvement. However, in 2014 the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in Washington, DC, made sweeping changes to the home and community-based waiver requirements, the primary funding stream for person with developmental disabilities. The new requirements redefine community settings, and tend to generalize congregate settings like Pathfinder Village as isolating and limiting a person’s access to community living.
In the following video, we hope to demonstrate that Pathfinder Village is a community based setting, creates a safe and integrated environment, and affords individuals receiving waiver based services opportunities to access community living.
