Pathfinder Village

Register for the 5th annual Splash Path on May 19, 2018

EDMESTON, NY, April 12, 2018 … Pathfinder Village, a remarkable residential community for those with Down syndrome and other disabilities, is gearing up for its annual Splash Path 5K & Fun Walk for Saturday, May 19.   Registration is now open for the 5th annual celebration of this vibrant paint run-and-walk, which is raising funds for a new Mobile Market for Pathfinder Produce, the Village’s weekly fresh fruits and vegetable market.

“Splash Path is an inclusive way for families to enjoy a fitness activity together. We welcome walkers and runners of all ages, abilities, and fitness levels,” said Splash Path Chair Monica Clark. “We’re grateful for all the community support we’ve received for Splash Path through the years, and are looking for additional participants, volunteers, sponsors, and vendors to add to the celebration.”

Splash Path will offer its popular ZUMBA® warm-up at 9 a.m. with licensed instructor Zoë Curtis before the run-walk.  The event will also feature an after run-walk celebration at the Pathfinder Pavilion, which will go through
2 p.m.  There will be a raffle auction with quality donations from regional businesses; a barbeque and music DJ; exhibits by local vendors and small businesses; and exhibition matches organized by Empire Cornhole.

Participants may register online at splashpath.racewire.com to sign-up for the event. Printable registration forms and waivers also are at http://pathfindervillage.org/get-involved/splash-path.   Printed forms are also available at the Pathfinder Bakery and area businesses. All runners and walkers must sign waivers to take part.

Early registration fees are set so that families may enjoy this fun and fitness celebration together: Children under 5 are free, Children (5-9) are $5; Youths (10-18) are $10; Adults are $20; our Family rate for 3 or more family is $45.  Early registration runs through May 5, after that date, modest late fees will be charged.  Runners and walkers who register early will receive a Splash Path tee shirt, goodie bag, and other donated items.

On the day of Splash Path, registration starts at the Pathfinder Gym at 9 a.m.  The run/walk begins at 10 a.m., with a color burst of non-toxic race colors in the School parking lot.  The run/walk will go east on NYS 80 to Robinson Road.  Runners and walkers will proceed to the turnarounds, and then return through the Pathfinder neighborhood.  The run/walk concludes at the Pathfinder Pavilion, which is the site of the after-event celebration.  For more information, please email SplashPath@pathfindervillage.org.

Splash Path is sponsored by businesses and organizations, which keeps registration fees affordable for participants.  Key business sponsors to date include: NBT Insurance Agency LLC, NYCM Insurance, Otsego County, One Group/Gordon B.
