For over three decades, golfers have gathered the day after Labor Day at the Leatherstocking Golf Course, Cooperstown, to take part in a premier event, The Otesaga Hotel Seniors Open and Pro-Am. This benefit tournament is unparalleled, combining a one-day Pro-Am with a three-day Seniors Open for teaching and club pros, all in a pristine setting that offers challenging play, unmatched hospitality, and breathtaking views of Lake Otsego.
Founded in 1982, the Pro-Am pairs amateur foursomes with a Senior Golf Professional for a two-man best ball round on one of New York State’s most-storied courses. Each year, the Pro-Am raises $50,000 for Pathfinder’s scholarship fund, and additional funds to support the educational programs at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.
With The Otesaga Resort Hotel as Title Sponsor, NBT Bank as Presenting Sponsor, and Coca-Cola Refreshments as Corporate Sponsor, the tournament also features an evening cocktail reception, prizes and raffle/auction items to bid on, and an Awards Banquet at the historic hotel’s Glimmerglass Dining Room that includes a keynote by a member of the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
Past Hall of Fame Ambassadors include Rollie Fingers, Ryne Sandberg, Fergie Jenkins, Johnny Bench and Mike Schmidt. Current Pro-Am Steering Committee Chairs are Daryl Forsythe, former chairman of the Board of Directors, NBT Bank, and Dan Spooner, director of golf of the Leatherstocking Golf Course.
The Otesaga will offer Pro-Am participants a discount room rate during the tournament: To make reservations, please call 1-800-348-6222, and choose Option 1.
