Each year, the Pathfinder Village Foundation organizes three fundraisers in support of its residential and student scholarship program: the Otesaga Hotel Seniors Open Pro-Am golf tournament, the Chobani Tennis Classic, and the Juniors Tennis Classic.
These events traditionally start the Tuesday after Labor Day in Cooperstown, NY, at the beautiful lakeside settings of the Leatherstocking Golf Course and the Cooperstown Country Club. Each year, these events raise over $60,000 to assist Village residents and students with tuition charges to allow them to continue their paths of growth, independence, and realize the benefits of community. In 2017, these events will take place starting Tuesday, September 5. 2017 Pro-Am registration information.
“Through the Pro-Am, and now through the Tennis Classic and Juniors Tennis Classic, we've been able to provide over $2.6 million in assistance to those who receive services at Pathfinder Village, going back 35 years," says Director of Development Lori Grace. "That really gives peace of mind to families, as their loved ones realize a sense of belonging and lead fulfilling lives."
Founded in 1982, the Otesaga Hotel Seniors Open Pro-Am pairs amateur foursomes with a Senior Golf Professional for a two-man best ball round at the renowned Leatherstocking Golf Course.
With The Otesaga Hotel as Title Sponsor, and NBT Bank as Presenting Sponsor, the tournament features challenges and camaraderie on the pristine lakeside golf course, a cocktail reception, and an Awards Banquet at the historic hotel’s Dining Room that includes a keynote by a member of the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
Past Hall of Fame Ambassadors include Rollie Fingers, Ryne Sandberg, Fergie Jenkins, Johnny Bench and Mike Schmidt. Current Pro-Am Steering Committee Chairs are Daryl Forsythe, former chairman of the Board of NBT Bank, and Dan Spooner, director of golf of the Leatherstocking Golf Course.

Each year it attracts players from throughout North America, and is considered the region’s pre-eminent charitable tennis tournament. With Title Sponsor Chobani Foundation, the tournament is organized by a volunteer committee chaired by Bob and Patricia Hanft.
In 2015, the Tennis Committee started a new tournament for youth players, the Juniors Tennis Classic, sponsored by Chobani Foundation, which provides opportunities for friendly competition for youth players, ages 7 to 18. See this year's printable Juniors Tennis Classic information.
